Saw the oily in the yard today with 8184 & X?. The X was facing Sydney so the 81 obviously led the train in, but they had put the 81 back in front of the X for the trip home. Any ideas? Why not just let the X lead?

From what I know, the 81’s ride better then the X class, so maybe that’s why, but I’m probably wrong. It's just a guess

Quite often it's up to the driver. A certain driver put B80 in the lead both ways. Smile

G'Day All
I will be doing some photography on the Main South and the Canberra branch on Tuesday. I know that the Garbage train would probably have double 81's but what about the empty oil ? Is it 81 and X (I haven't got that combo on film yet) or something else? (I love a good surprise!!)

I'm today's oily has X-48-48 on it. I will be unable to get over to Fyshwick at any stage today. Anybody able to find out exactly what is up front?

Nope. The empty should be departing around 17.45.

the winners are X52/48137-/48163. The X lead on 1293 Monday night so unless it was turned the 48's will probabbly lead tonight.

And you've spent how much time in them? Not much I'll bet.

I will admit that the B class was a journey back in time (although i enjoyed every minute) but despite that it rode as smooth as an NR and i wouldn't hesitate to have it lead any where any time. Cool

Would that be because of modifications or were they like that originally?

How was it noise-wise?
