I suppose I have to consider the possibility the Mr Smith has chosen Stratford. Not that I can see how that fits. Strat backward is 'tarts' though.

Ethanol is C2H(HOOH), and I can't get anything out of CCHHOOO either.
I was trying for Christchurch (NZ, and really butane, not butanol), and Crich (UK, and not even ethane, let alone ethanol).
We play jokes which are academical,
