It is with much pleasure (and relief) that I announce the arrival of West Coast Railway's R711 at the steam4me site.

This loco is another example of the superb craftsmanship of Joseph Spinella (in association with the Dream In Vision team). It's taken quite some time to prepare this locomotive as MSTS is not set up for oil-burning (even though parameters exist, they are not currently implemented).

This model is dedicated to the memory of the late Gary McDonald, CEO of WCR and the man with the vision, persistence, courage and determination to bring R711 back into commercial service on Victorian rails.

Thanks also to the beta test team - Matt Austin, Russell Beer, Ian Bowles, James Brook, Rudolf Richter, Ben Shields, Michael Thompson. Thanks guys for your help and support through the dark times.

Please note that the conditions of use of this model preclude the publication or distribution of reskinned or retextured models.

Now if you'd like to make your way to the site below, R711 is awaiting your downloading pleasure.

Very nice indeed. Hopefully with MSTS2 on the way support for oil burning locos will be included and this one can be altered to reflect it's true handling characteristics.

What a top job. I have spent most of today running 711 in on my system. I have only encountered 1 small problem. When reversing around corners the tender does not go smoothly and will bring you to a stop. HAs anyone else had this occour ?

After much waiting, It was well worth the wait. R711 is THE BEST model for MSTS I have ever seen. Does anyone know a way of making a WAV. file to improve the loco's whistle, as the one that is on it could do with a little tweaking. Other than that I can't believe how perfect the model is.. Top job Yuri, Joseph and team!

Now we need a WCR S class to run with the R!

Love the engine, Spent 2 hours capturing sound from one of my 30+hours of video of have shot of R's.. and have redeveloped the sounds for full Rclass from engine to compressor to whistle and it sound great..
(had to modify CAB + ENG Files)

Nothing like an R belting past at 70+ with the whistle screaming!!

I have forwarded these to Yuri and Joseph for their thoughts.. I love it and hopefully he may post it at Steam 4 Me.
