Don't cry, only joking. There maybe a better way to do this, but what I do is get your picture to size you require in 64K colors (16bit) I use Paint Shop Pro 7.04 for this. Once you got it to size then save it as a gif. a message will say this will be changed to 256 colors (8bit) click OK and you should find the colours vary very little.

By the way a little hint here in this area of signatures.
Is good idea to not have a signature too big, as remember everytime you post a post everyone's PC has to load it all the time and makes some threads HUGE, and the thread pages are all taken up with big signatures.
Defeats the purpose in my book.

Please NO refection on anyone, but I think is good idea to start out properly here now before things may get out of hand. I was one of the very first starters at Train Sim.com Forum long before MSTS got released and saw what happened over there as it (the signatures) really got out of hand and they eventually had to limit the size of signatures and ruffled a few feathers doing so.

So in my mind is better now to try to do the correct thing here while this Forum's new. This is reason my signature is smallish. Yes I would like to put a big S.A.R Bayer Garratt as a Signature, but the avatar is sufficient.

Sorry my 10 cents worth now, may just save some pain and headaches later on as this Forum grows and it will.

Best regards,
s
