I was bored over the long weekend (and partly immobile after a knee injury!), so here is the result - a set of 7 National Rail RKLX wagons for MSTS. I've put them up temporarily at http://www.railtasmania.com/~sdix/au_rklx.zip
although in the long term they should be at train-sim.com, and at Railpage Australia™ (except Yuri's mail box is full!)
I'm not sure why I did the RKLX, as its bit of a change from my usual
Tasmanian stuff, but anyway they are done now, and they might as well be out there for the rest of the world.
All we need now is a pair of BLs and AI Comeng sets wizzing past

Stuart Dix

Stuart, nice set of container wagons, but a small QUERY....
Is there a reason why the bogie wheels look like their inside the rail line. I downloaded these and put them next to the other NR containers wagons I had in my consist and it was immediately very noticeable. Or, are these for Narrow Gauge. Curious.

The bogies were originally created for a set of Tasmanian log wagons, but with the bogies to standard gauge width. I suspect the reason is that I made a mistake with the distance between the wheels and didn't notice. I'll update my bogie file so they are right for the future.
Also, Yuri Sos has pointed out that the wheels don't rotate.
1) Did anyone notice?
2) Does anyone care?
I may do a slightly updated version for the Railpage Australia™ site this evening if I can get them working. (For the record, I did notice, but only becuase I was looking closely as part of the development, but no, I don't mind. In fact, I thought this one of Microsofts features . . . . .)

Stuart

If you want to get them to rotate you need to do the following. When looking at the side view in TSM, the right hand bogie must be named "Bogie2" and have the "Main" part as it's parent. The axis for Bogie2 must be centered at the Bogie2 object, and not the origin. Similarly, the left hand bogie must be named "Bogie1" with the "Main" part as it's parent and it's axis centered on the object.
The wheels are then named as follows. The right most wheel on Bogie2 must be named Wheels21 with Bogie2 as the parent. The left wheel on Bogie2 is named Wheels22 with Bogie2 as the parent. The right wheel on Bogie1 is named Wheels11 with Bogie1 as the parent and the left hand wheel on Bogie1 is named Wheels12 with Bogie1 as the parent.
You must then set the number of "Animation Frames" to 7 in the project properties box.
I hope this helps

I HAVE A NAME YOU KNOW
scine your making a vr main line, why don't you make that line, i'm too busy working on the MTR V2. |
1 I had forgotten your screen name and 2 I dont know your real name
Incase you hadnt noticed I was making a joke, and also my route is fictional, based on VR practice, not a VR route so to include the BHP Long Island line would kinda ruin the effect of having it fictious, it would just about make it a Mornington Peninsula line
Plus mine is set in the outback, and Long Island is hardly outback

1) sorry I didn't look that far.
2) Well I would have cared, but I did go for a run with the containers once I saw the wheels were not quite right. It did look quite odd.
Stuart they will be great once you get the wheels fixed, I'll reinstall them again.
Best Regards

I presume as others here may also, that your name is Michael.
Michael why not sign off your posts with Michael, if that is your name you wish to be addressed by.
This next bit I'm only joking here.
The icon on the end you used makes the mind boggle.
Best regards,

Automatic installer is available at http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/index.html#fc
This is version 1.1, so I sugest you use this file instead. Wheel rotation has been fixed, as has gauge, and a flashing tail light has been added.
I think it was the setting of the animation frames value was the bit I missed (Me read a manual? Never! Normally I have to write the software first)
Regards,
Stuart
