Were there any Endeavour Railcars working

Because there has been overhead wire problems from Wollongong to Port Kembla and to Dapto so the Endeavour Railcars were running

That'll be a problem for them - they converted some Endeavours to Xplorers because they were surplus after the electrification. Now they'll be short of rollingstock.

I had heard the possibility of electrifying to Gerringong if it is cheaper than building another diesel set? Anyone else heard that?

It is owned by the Rail Motor Society at Paterson (on the North Coast line near Maitland). RIC hire it out to do radio testing and line inspections - it will be working on the south coast over the next week or so. What look like pantos are in fact where the aerials and satellite equipment lifted above the roofline.

That's an attention-getter!

Would it be the RVX4 track recording car?

HPC402 is an ex NSWGR 400 class railcar, based on the 100 class power vans for the Silver City Comet. It was used on country branches for most of it's life, and is preserved by the Rail Motor Society at Patterson. They lease it to RIC for radio testing, and this is it's first movement for such purposes in about a year or so.

Also, HPC402 is at Eveleigh right now, and will be going to Waverton, Ingleburn, and Olympic Park late tonight before heading back to Eveleigh. It is tabled to depart Sydney Yard on Thursday at 0415 northbound to Patterson.

Hope this is of interest to anyone out there....

Technically HPC402 isn't leased to RIC. It's spot hired on an as required basis.

I haven't seen the EM100 for a long time but I think it does. They are very similar vehicles, apart from gauge. They are diesel and have a pantograph for testing the overhead.

I believe that it was on the cards of the RIC to extend the electrification of the south coast line all the way to Bombaderry, and that the first stage was to Kiama, and the 2nd stage to Bombaderry would follow later. Has anyone else heard that/have any updates?

That would make sense as they could then get rid completely of all the endeavours on this line and just go with V and G sets, although the Kiama to Nowra(Bombaderry) section is quite long with very few stations and getting the power down there could pose some problems with quite a few substations needed.

What I would really like is the unanderra to lysaghts link to be electrified as since the Kiama electrification they have stopped all the endeavour services that take this route which I used to take to work. And the worst part of it is that they were not replaced. There were only 3 or 4 each day that went along this track and they were during the peak times, now during the peak times the trains don't match up at Conniston very well and you get long waits for connections. It is now quicker for me to walk to work than catching the train.
