hey
after alot of reading and research (which is hard considering theres not much out there on this tasmanina rollingstock) i have come to the conlusion that these were the primary main-line passenger cars during the steam age. I was wondering if some one could provide a list of these cars that have survived, and there location.
Cheers,
and happy new year
Alex

Hey Alex looks like i will do this again!
Right yep these were part of the mainline fleet before and during the Tasman Limited days in the 1960s and 1970s.
There isn't many that survived but Don River Railway at Devonport has a few.
AAL11 is painted in the TGR Cream over red and still in service at Don
AAR2 same as above but this one has refreshment facilities
BBL11 is similar to look at AAR2 but has no refreshment in it.
BBL12 is a TGR built using ex frame of DBE4.
These ones are still in service.
Here is a website that you can have a look at.

Jim Stokes 130 pages in the Bulletin not enough for you?
Bellarine Peninsular in Victoria also have two AARs, an AAL and a Clyde BBL.
Prior to the late 1930s, the majority of trains were of largely side door stock, and from 1928, with the odd AAL car added to the train.
The Clyde cars, and the AALs (and derivatives) were the backbone of the mainline services really only from the mid/late 1930s to the early 50s, but due to the war most trains were built up or affected in other ways.

Please guys - it's Bellarine Peninsula - not Peninsular. This error is creeping in to much these days. (in US parlance an "insular" railroad is one that makes no connection with the general network and crosses no public roads - an island!. What does "peninsular" mean? - a road that nearly doesn't connect!!).
BPR has the following TGR "mainline" stock - AAR1;AAR4,BBL10 (clyde steel cars); AAL9 (wooden saloon) and SP5 ,SP8- ex sentinal cars
They also have BBL6, ABL4, AB46 - compartment cars(plus the frame of BBL6.
And for list completeness B+22 and DB46.

My bad! - I typed BBL6 twice.
And I see that it should have been ABL14 - not ABL4!!
