Thanks James, well done, the "I" is another nice piece of rollingstock.

Those were the days eh john with the 4 wheelers on the datmoor trestle.

We would get full train loads of 4 wheelers, mainly the GY's with super phosphate from Portland for all around the South East of S.A. (not marshalled either) I do remember these odd "I" or "IA" wagons for the freight shed when I first came to the Mount in 1970, but they disappeared not long after. Yes I remember the old rickety Dartmoor trestle, till it got replaced.

Remember when the t class hit the glue truck and the crew got covered in glue.

I can remember that was on the Glenburnie Sale yard main road crossing. Panelboard use to get 2 semi loads a week with this one huge bladder full of glue, bust that and man what a sticky mess. Didn't go out to see that prang as I was on the shunter. Sticky busniness hey!

Was you around when one of your Vic "T" class engines hit that semi stock trailer near the Mt Gambier state saw mill and the engine went over onto the fireman's side and slid sideways partly filling the cab with dirt and half buried the fireman and the driver furiously digging him out while inside the cabin with dirt in his ears and up his nose gasping for breath. A great feat I thought.
Three wagons and a ZLP went OVER the top of the engine while it was sliding on its side, (all Vic jet trains went out of the Mount with a ZLP both ends on account of Heywood for Melb) with several other wagons piled up against it. Man what mess. No one was seriously hurt thankfully, only a few cattle were put down.
And yes this happened in Winter at 8pm, it was dark. We were late getting that Vic train together, normally it left a 6:30pm, it took off out the yard pretty darn quick for Heywood, but did not get far. The semi driver had his daughter in the semi with him, but the engine hit the trailer only not the cab, so neither got hurt, but shaken up a bit I can tell you. It was said at that time the damage bill from that smash was around a million dollars. They had huge cranes from Melb there for 2 days righting everything including the engine a little worse for wear.
