hi dominic,
i am just redownloading cars to check wag files.
which route is this occurring on?
it sounds like the coupler node bug to me, which is the problem of the route itself.
marias pass is one route that is notorious for this.
if it is your own route and you have sections longer than 8kms you need to put the 0 % points in place to break up the long sections into smaller ones.
this is part of xtracks 3.5 by okrasa ghia.
try running route riter and run the coupler fix.
this increases break variables and adds /s to coupler variables.
that is the line in wag file that i am checking.
i'll get back to all.
cheers
ian
ps just double checked wag files dominic, they are fine.
i would check the settings on your b class.
in eng file the damping line in coupler should have a /s on the end of both variables.
i know that the original b didn't have this switch in place and james was notified.
it is the node coupling bug causing this which is a bug in msts1.
read my other threads on this subject or find more in depth ones at the train-sim.com forum.
my guess is you have an old bclass download which i believe was updated
as well.

Sorry I deleted my post, I felt they were OK as is.

It was the B class was it, gee they must be too strong then Razz

I am an early adpoter, so you are proably right, ill check the B class.

It was my own route, other trains dont uncouple though.

OK, fixed the damping going to test. What about the stiffness thats in /m not /m/s also.

Thank you.

hi dominic,
in the damping section of the coupler sectionit needs n/m/s in both statements.
how far between points on your route.
i bet it uncoupled right on the node of the points.
in long sections put the 0% points in xtracks in the section.
they are invisible ie they just look like a straight piece of track.
in other words you can't see them but it fools the game engine into thinking that there is a set of points there.
russell and i thought the idea up ages ago as if you put points in everywhere the problem doesn't exist, not very prototypical though
when you are modelling routes with 20 mile sections.
after a lot of to and froing on the train-sim.com forum, okrasa ghia decided to make them up for us.
they work beautifully.
russell is going to put a tutorial thread together on installation, as okrasa failed to even mention them in the 3.5 xtracks release.
cheers
ian

After 'fixing' the damping (not stiffness) I did a full end to end trip and all was good (low and high speed), I have to try the opposite direction then I will know wether the fixes helped.

I take it I am supposed to be gentle with cars of this age and not launch with notch 8?

http://day.uws.edu.au/~99080046/msts/YARD_C.png (35KB)

I think this is the first time I have had such problems, of course I have had cars uncouple on raton, marias etc occasionaly but ........
