The impression i get is the new loco numbers seem to be related to their
horsepower.
eg 31's = 3000 horsepower, number 100 series etc
22's = 2000 horsepower, number 200 series etc Question

Therefore exDB1593 is now 2313. 2000 horsepower, number 300 series.

this may just ba a coincedince.

if a loco renumbering takes place, there will have to be many other classes thaught of - ie. if one loco is not equiped with dynamic brakes (the controller needs to be aware of this)

Not necessarily, the alpha numeric system does not indicate whether a loco is dynamic brake equipped or not. The horsepower theory seems correct to me, another example is the renumbering of one of the AWR T classes (albeit temporarily) to 901.

I never said it was a numeric theory. I quote myself "The horsepower theory"
The T designation belongs to a completely different system, I was referring to when the loco was temporarily renumbered to just 901 (with no letter prefix).
My apoligies if the wording in my previous post caused any confusion.
