Hi all,

Thought I'd start a new D3 thread as the last one was getting kinda chunky! After alot of effort and hair-removal, I've done a transitional coupler and pilot for the loco. Some tweaking is still needed, but I'll soon be moving on to the cab and the loco will be done. Then I can finish the wooden cars, Hitachi and...a few others.

Feedback is welcome.

Cheers,
Matt Austin

Reskinning in Canadian Red, or gloss black with red trim, or modification to a D2 should be easy. :)

Thanks for the kind comments guys. The loco is nearly done, and there are some surprises in store for its release. Lets just say that there are some very talented people who have added to my ok shape file to create a very impressive loco. Thanks to Ian, it now couples properly at both ends. After some more virtual gunzelling, I was able to come up with these two shots, taken a few minutes apart. The first one shows the Bacchus Marsh bound train crossing the trestle just outside of town.

After watering at the Marsh, the train returned a little while later. I was having an electronic snooze under a virtual tree when it came, and I nearly missed it!

I'll post more screens soon, with an eight-coupled surprise! Oh yeah, I have more projects on the go, I'm too ashamed to mention. I gain and lose interest and enthusiasm alot!

Cheers,
Matt Austin

Sucker for punishment, me. I wasn't getting enough cause to bang my head against a brick wall with the D3 so I thought I'd give this a go...

Surpriiiiise!

It's only after an hour or two's work, so expect it t get better. Here's a challenge - count the bits I haven't added yet, then remind me of them!

Cheers,
Matt

1) the turbo's in the wrong spot (or is the shape a converted D3?)
2) you havn't added the whistle yet
3) you havn't got the reverser stuff above the running board
4) there isn't a muffler on the air comp.
5) there isn't a ladder yet.
thats all from what i can see at the moment. will you be making 163 in the current green livery?

Regards,
Craig Walton
