AIUI, all GNR assets were sold to CFLCA.

Wasn't there a few items of rollingstock that were privatly owned by GNR's owners/managers or similar?

345 was privately owned by one of the directors. Not sure about 317. Try Locopage, I think it says.

I'm pretty sure that it was a GNR asset, after it was re-allocated from SRHC's ownership. it is now on SG, interestingly, given it lived on SG most of it's life...
That's an attention-getter!

T345 was/is a privately owned locomotive. It was origianlly used on the Victorian Goldfields Railway until 1992, when it was transfered for use on the Great Southern Railway Society trains at Nyora.
S317 is owned by Great Northern Rail and was restored to service early this year, after undergoing a major overhaul at GNR's Depot at Bendigo.

T345 is curently coupled up to GM25 in the GN yard in Melb. S317 is an SG turntable ornament. I did hear from multiple sources at one stage that GM12 and GM25 were for sale if anyone wanted to cough up $12000 EACH in the condityion that they are in...GM12 would be a nice one to preserve, but would require several tens of thousands of dollars work...and more in missing replacement parts...

And came within an ace of being preserved. If anything, given the severity of the prangs it has had, it is probably a great preservation candidate...
