Tuesday night: Went to Preston Workshops in hope of seeing a five-car Combino. No such luck, but accident-damaged 3033 was there with a few nose panels off. Z-class trams there: 72 looking complete, 49 with desto, headlights and possibly doors gone; 17 minus headlights but still with desto; 114 with headlights, couldn't see if the desto was gone; 91 with no headlights and uncertain desto; 27 with headlights and uncertain desto.

And today (22/Cool:

I got the Siemens at last! It's pretty smooth and quiet. Actually it's remarkably similar to a Combino - announcements, info displays, external desto. The 2+2 seating makes it very easy to get around. The inter-car doorways are great - just like an artic tram. No trouble getting from one car to the next. The horn is rather like an Xtrap, but quieter.

I chased refurbished 2002 half way to St Kilda and got it on the way back. It's almost indistinguishable from a refurb B2, nothing special on the inside.

Photos will be on the web site once I've shrunk them down from 2mb each!

Happy Gunzelling and remember, "Go by rail!"
