I have now replaced all the signals and gantries on BM2 with Colin's great NSW ones, as well as relaying a lot of track and correcting cross overs and track layout etc. The Coal Loader at Newnes Junction is included as well as new Penrith Station buildings and animated people on the platform at Penrith.

Should have a patch ready to upload this weekend, and following are a few pictures:-

Looking forward to it..

Haven't used th3 route much due to problems with the curves at stations..

It will give me great excuse to re-use my red/blue XPY's again..

regards

Richard

Hi Richard,

I hopefully have improved the curves at the stations, however as I did not do a great job of track laying, you might be advised to keep Derailments off. Note that this time, all the speed posts are in place, so you have to concentrate to keep within the limits, especially downhill.

I have changed all my locos to read in KPH and that makes it easier to drive.

G'day Mike,
I've Been driving the Blue Mountains route since it came out in version 1.
I've found driving out of Penrith the most rewarding & have had NO problems driving through to Mt Vic with a 6 car V Set.I have set up an activity driving Penrith - Mt Vic & another Mt Vic to Lithgow, this achieves the best to maximise passing traffic. In the reverse I've got Double 49 class with Domestic wheat hoppers(old blacks-mgma.) from Lithgow to Penrith & as long as you sit on the brakes through stations I've had NO derailments. With a V Set down the mountain thats a different story, broken couplers put me out of the game after 1-1/2 hours driving if I enter a station to quick.
One question, how do you maintain your frame rate with all the trains in Penrith Yard,I can only do it if I use Consists without Power Units or Locos.
Anyway keep up the good work & Ill definately upgrade when it comes available.
Regards,Old_C_38 I Also run NSW Steam over the mountains .

As usual I made an error in the upload to Yuri's site, he caught it and pointed out the error of my ways Smile

I have now sent him a new, new version so it should be there soon.

For Old C-38 - The only way to improve the frame rates in Penrith Yard is to buy a faster PC - Unfortunately with all the scenery and gantries etc, it is a bit of a killer. I get about 10 fps with a train at the platform in Explore mode, but in the Penrith-Lithgow-XPT act in the new version it is down to about 6 fps Sad

However the remainder of the route is not too bad, and I just had to add the Krispy-Kreme shop in Penrith, even if it is about 1km closer to the railway than it should be.

New version has a couple of animated passengers walking along the platform in Penrith, courtesy of Volker Bollig as well, these do not help the fps, but best I can do before/if MSTS2 comes out.

Do you need to have version to 2 to upgrade to version 3 because I only version 1.

Hi Tom,

Yes, you would need v2 to upgrade to v3, it would be easier just to download the full v3 rather than try to download the patch from v1 to v2 then the patch from v2 to v3.

For those who wonder - I managed to reduce the size of the route using my latest version of Route-Riter by another 20 pct or so, then reduced the size of most of the textures by re-saving them in DXT1 format. This reduced the download size of v3 to around 43 megs from the 70 megs of v2, even though v3 actually includes more scenery than v2.

Attention Mike,
I've a problem that you might be able Give Me directions on how to remedy ? How can I transfer Activities I created In Version 2 into Version 3 as I notice the activities have the same names in some cases. I have lots of passing traffic in my Version 2 with Different PLAYER trains as the motive power e.g. Double 49 class on domestic wheat wagons for the Katoomba - Penrith Activity Version 2. Thanks for any assistant,
Regards Old_C_38
