Brand New Facelift For The Ghan
Friday, 26 September 2003

written by Melanie Moses

Great Southern Railways has unveiled the bold new look of its Ghan locomotive. Officials from Pacific National and Great Southern Railways were very proud of the new design displaying Ambassador Steve Irwin on the engine carriage.

The train has even been named after Steve Irwin! Mr. Irwin was extremely flattered and said he 'felt on top of the world'.

He was also given the honour of 'christening' the train with large bottle of champagne.

Irwin was chosen as the perfect celebrity source for the new passenger rail because promoting "Aussie Tourism" has always been Irwin's motto.

Pacific National's General Manager Commercial Robert Jeremy boosted 'Aussie Tourism' by promoting Darwin as a fantastic, relaxed city for everyone to visit.

Chief Executive Officer of Great Southern Railways also discussed the company's new 60 day flexi-travel policy. The offer allows the guest to break their journey at no extra cost. This has created more of a buzz for The Ghan because it gives so much flexibility for travellers.

That's what happens when you tease a crocodile with food by holding a dead chicken in front of it's mouth Razz
