Can anyone tell me FOR SURE if this is correct, OR, is it just my PC system.

I normally use Getright (now upgraded to latest version 4.5e) to download my MSTS files. I have noted a couple of times of late that odd sites will only allow me to download using the Windows File Download, instead of Getright.

I had an email this morning to go to this site
http://www.railtasmania.com/video/
to download some Tassie stuff. Never knew this MSTS site existed. So I downloaded the rollingstock and only to find on this particular site I could only use the Windows File Download, not Getright. I downloaded a video file from there and same thing.

So I tried another site and it allowed Getright to download it. ???????

Is this correct that some sites can ONLY ALLOW the Windows File Download to download their files, OR..... is my PC having a headache with Getright.

Okay, not an MSTS question as such, but it is of sorts.

yeh you are not seeing things
uktrainsim is one that comes to mind
if you dont close getright your download wont happen but the worst part is
that their database stilll thinks you have downloaded the file so its a matter of waiting another 24 hours to have your download credits restored
haven't had any problem with steam4me or train-sim.com
hope this restores your sanity
i thought i was going silly till i worked it out
cheers
ian

THANKS... Had no problems with the majority of places, including the places you mention, just this couple of odd sites of late. I only upgraded Getright from 4.5d to 4.5e a little while back thought maybe was the upgrade.

No.

What you are experiencing is not related to Getright itself, but a by-product of how all download managers interact with the page/s you want to download from, irrelevant of platform or program.

Specifically, Getright 4xx works fine with UKTS and T-S.

T-S: if your download has stopped that means the session key has expired (the long ASCII garbage in your URL) as you know the free access to T-S is limited per logins.

To continue your download: you need to re log-in successfully again and then change the URL for your download in getright or just change the session key that is in the URL in the getright queue.

UKTS: Their system bit different. as long as you have download quota left then files will download through getright fine. when your quota expires the downloads will stop.

Other: SOME downloads from certain sites wll fail to downlod if queued within getright. This has got to do with the way their links and pages are written as well as web site settings. The solution to this is to shift+click to download files manually (via your browser)

Alternatively, Opera 6/7 and Mozilla/Netscrap 7 have build in lightweight download managers, but these have only a few features.

I have been using Getright since 1998 (v3.x) and since then no problems, I have tried the alternatives GoZilla, Netpumper, DAP, Flashget and didnt like them.

Any good download manager should have a refferer setting. Setting that works with UKTS and T-S is the following:

The Referer radio buttons are the important setting the rest isnt

I cant remeber when I last reset the stats counter..... but anyway proof the program does what it is supposed to do.

THANKS... that's a relief I did not think it was the fault of Getright or my old reliable Win98, as I've use Getright for ages. Took a bit to figure Getright download cut-offs at TS library till I read a post as to what to do. Easy once you know how, Very Happy

Question Do you recommend I set my Advanced Protocols the same as you displayed in your post above, or are those just settings for yourself. What's the:- NCSA_Mosaic/2.6L10N+(XII) bit.

I had to go to www.uktrainsim.com to get a file for the Coal to Newcastle route (had to log in as a new user) and tried to download a 200kb file only to be told there is only 1.2megs left. In my book that was plenty. Oh well try again tomorrow. Darn it. Thanks for all this information, is appreciated.
