I agree there's good train scenes, but it's a smegging awful film.

The bit I like best is the rigid Swiss Re6/6 turning into a jointed Italian E656 (but painted green with fake larger cab window frames and the Swiss five digit number.
While on loco changes, Turner Classic Movies is showing "Harvey Girls" today. The opening titles show a 2-8-0, but other shots show 4-4-0s with at least three numbers, 18 (a real V&T number?), 33 and 49. The set shots are made with 49, which matches the number in the song "AT&SF".
The same cars are used in the location and set shots, but the changed from Indian red to cream to match the built up dummy train used in close ups, (including a complete 4-4-0 "49" for singing loco crew). 49 is named "Wm B. Strong"
The departure of the train from Sand Rock at the end of the "AT&SF" really big production number is truly amazing, with the cast doing a crowd scene next to the departing train, not a high visibility vest in sight, all walking forward with the train until it draws away.

I watched this.
It was filmed in England using genuine European coaches painted as CIWL Pullmans but hauled by a BR class 4 4-6-0 with no number but with an "Art Deco" tender symbol that also appeared on the "tickets" in the story. I assume that this was filmed on the Nene Valley railway. There did not appear to be any all blue sleeping cars to match the train name or the set interiors, but that's not the worst error in a movie.
I'm currently watching "Bad Day at Black Rock" with Spencer Tracy. The opening shows three articulated red and orange Pullman Standard "Daylight" car sets (the first being a diner) and trailing a single observation car. It was hauled by F7 6151 and an unidentified F7B in "Black Widow" scheme.

As an aside, ABC's The Einstein Factor was won this week by a man specialising in Thomas The Tank Engine trivia.
Although some of the questions were ridiculuosly easy such as:
"Steam, electric or diesel. What was Thomas?"
That's an attention-getter!

Hasn't been on TV for a little while, but Mr. Nice Guy has a good scene of Z3.136, Z3.129 & Z1.5 in Swanston St, and it also includes Jackie Chan going along the side of Z1.5

The 1978 remake of The Lady Vanishes, 11.50pm tonight on ABC. Not the best version of the film, but the steam action is good.
Cheers

Some more
'How the West was Won', originally released in Cinerama format, where not only a train derails, but a vertical boiler load on a flat car goes ballistic, mowing down anyone and anything in its path!
The original 'On the Beach' with a Harris emu set.
'Dark City' - three Sydney standard electric cars, with C3104 modified in its seating arrangements to represent a subway car.
'The Matrix' - single deck interurban electric cars in Sydney - pushed by an offscreen 48-class loco.

A couple of weeks ago, ABC-TV had a movie which had the "goodies" in one automobile being chased by the "baddies", both motor vehicles stopping at a level crossing so that a Southern Pacific 'Cab-ahead' loco on a fairly lengthy freight can go past.
Off-hand, I can't think of its title.
