If you can only have one thing in life, would you choose your wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend (whichever is applicable) or Railways? And why?

Girlfriend/Wife.

Without causing any offense to anyone here who consider themselves... obsessive hardcore gunzels, you would be abnormal to choose a locomotive/train with priority over a girlfriend/wife for your happiness long-term.

Since I don't have a wife/girlfriend, I can't really make a statement. But if I had to completely give up being a railfan I just wouldn't know what to do with myself.

It's true really....

However, I admit, I really do not want to choose between the two, or have to give up one of them.

A good/perfect girlfriend/wife is one who can tolerate or even be involved in your interest.
