Should be two days not two days'.
The days don't own anything, so therefore no need for the apostrophe.

... yet you still don't know that everytime you use the letter I by itself it's always a capital letter, and that "im" is really i'm (with the apostrophe) as it is short for "I am". "Im" rhymes with Jim, and him, etc...

Reasons why the English language is so hard to learn:
The bandage was wound around the wound.
The farm was used to produce produce.
The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.
We must polish the Polish furniture.
He could lead if he would get the lead out.
The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to
present the present.
A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.
When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.
I did not object to the object.
The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.
They were too close to the door to close it.
The buck does funny things when the does are present.
A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.
To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.
The wind was too strong to wind the sail.
After a number of injections my jaw got number.
Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.
I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.
How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?
Let's face it - English is a crazy language.
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France.
Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.
We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing; grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth?
One goose, 2 geese. One moose, 2 moose. One index, 2 indices.
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend?
If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?

Language is a means of communication and it only works if we understand the same language as others are using. Our brains are clever enough to correct for imprecise language but the more precise and consistent we are and the more we follow the same conventions, the better the communication, and therefore understanding, is. Lack of effort to communicate clearly is not something to be proud of.

made more sense | For a stopping train, yes, but the express train announcements didn't. I'm not sure of the actual wording, but it is/was something like this..
Old: Express service to Lilydale.
New: Service to Lilydale running express. The former sounded like the train was running express all the way to Lilydale.

Interesting reading Simon,
But languages could also be looked at like two madmen arguing who is nuttier.
I remember years ago one day while shunting, and we had a Polish fellow who was a train guard at the time would assist me with shunting and at times when I said something to him, he would remark "for what you mean here" (imprinted words now) as he would at the same time get out his pencil and paper and write down what I said. After I explained as best I could and he finally grasped it, he would say to me,"you know we would say that this way"
Yes, he would say it in a sort of "reversed speaking" compared to our English speaking. Perhaps like in all things we accept today, the original English teachings just wanted to be different from Europe in general, so several languages was mixed all together. Sounds okay, just looks a little crazy when written down.

This has been a really interesting thread. It's good to see that so many people, and especially so many "young" people, care about the language. There is a place for "chat english" - SMS is probably one of those places. Another is when quoting speech, as people rarely speak in gramatically correct english (thank God for contractions). The thing to remember is that if you want somebody to read your post, have enough respect for that person to make your post understandable without the reader having to make an effort to understand it. It's not hard, it's just respect.
Cheers, Rhino
