Guys

I've got a good image of the 4 N_type cars I'd made for MSTS,

But I got a question though,
I'd converted it for MSTS, but when I try to make a activity consist, the shape files don't show up on Activity editor, can you please tell me how to fix it so it shows the shape file on activity editor?

These cars do not seem to represent any real N type cars ever operated by the NSWGR/PTC/SRA!

The passenger doors are those currently used on preserved cars, while the toilet windows are those used when the cars were new in 1939. The "split" or "Dutch" doors were never used while in commercial operation.

None of them have any lettering giving class of accomodation. The bogies are those used by rebuilt cars from the 1970s onward, most of which had smaller rubber sealed toilet windows. There are no guard's lookouts on the HFN (or HN) terminal cars.

May I ask where you obtained the data for these computer models?

Dunno what you mean bu obtained the data from this model, all i can say is that I used TSmodeler and even got a HO scale model of the N_type to be able to creat this model.

But what I was asking is how come the shape file won't show up when I'm making a consist on Activity editor? that's the real question I want to know, It shows up on shape viewer.

the reason It's hasn't got lettering for it's class is because it's not quite finished yet, I gotta add the second class writing on it, plus the N-type code

e.g. SFN 2182" or FRN 2186", I've got that to go.

Do you have a correctly configured WAG and SD file for your shape file? You will also need a sound folder which contains SMS and WAV files.

I suggest you look at one of the carriages that comes with the Orient Express or Flying Scotsman to see how their carriages are configured.

I used the WAG, SD and Sound files from one of the Orient Express carriages for my passenger car. Edit the WAG and SD files so that they reference you *.S shape file and give the description a unique name. That should be enough to get it into the game.

Coupler, brake and dimension tweaks you will still have to perform in the WAG and SD files for realistic in game performance.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, none of the models you illustrate look like a SFN or FRN because the toilet windows are wrong. These cars did not have the wooden framed toilet windows used on your models. These cars had no crownlights (the small windows above the main window) over the toilet windows, which were fixed in place and had rounded corners.

There are no HO models of SFN or FRN cars available, the nearest being the FN and RFN models available from Berg's. These had different toilet windows, different doors and different bogies.

There was only one FRN and only one SFN and they were both introduced in 1969 and were used only on the "Southern Highlands Express" after it was only hauled by diesel locomotives. These cars were never hauled by steam in normal service.

The Reason there isn't a HO scale of FRN & SFN is coz the one I got I'd remade ot and turned it to a SFN & FRN since I bought it as FN & RFN cars.
But Like I said to tthe last post, I'm gonna Remodify it and fix it up a bit more. Those images I uploaded that is not finished yet.

I've got a hell more modelling to do to go, I gotta add hand rails for the side doors of the carriages, and I gotta add a bumper to another side, and make a new decal bounding box to put the class name decals.

I'm also thinking that when these cars are all done,
here's the liveries I'm gonna be doing

NSWGR Tuscan
NSWGR Tuscan and Russet
Australian Red Cross
NSWRTM Indian Red
3801 Limited Liveriy designs 1 & 2

yeah that's the FS Tuscan and Russet livery, good pic Yuri, I'm thinking of having these N-Types for the payware but needs more work to do in it like fixing the windows and the door, and of course the ladder footsteps.

You have got a lot of work ahead of you savy3801 if you are going to make it payware. They will have to be a lot more accurate than what they are now, including the correct bogies, correct windows and the correct doors plus the correct underfloor detail and all other details must also be correct
Cheers

savy3801, ARG706 is right you have to have a commercial version of any 3D modelling program that you use to make these models for payware, which can cost you a lot of money, (3D Studio Max US$3495.00 even TSM you must purchase the commercial version, US$395.00). I suggest that you contact Team-Alco and talk to them about what is required for you to make payware models.
If you want people to part with their hard earned money then you have to make all your models as accurate as possible in all ways to the real thing, near enough is not good enough.
Hope this helps
Cheers
