I'm told that Interail is very close to starting a new Brisbane - Melbourne intermodal service, possibly as soon as this week. Does Interail have access into Melbourne?

Cheers

You'll be getting some familiar motive power on it ...

4x ELs are allocated to the new service, along with 42202 and 42206. The 422s will be attached/detached from the trains at Clyde.

Basically two trains will run at one time in each direction.

I would rather a 421, but that isn't going to happen any time soon. Confused

422s sound just as good.

PS If you get 421s and 422s up your way, please record them like you did with the other diezels Smile

Officially it will start in about 3 weeks, but they are still hoping to do one later this week. The fleet at the moment will allow 3 services per week in each direction. I understand they will use BM9/MB9.

I doubt the dispute between FA and PN over terminal access will be resolved in a hurry.

There are some reports that Interail will be operating the service at 115km/h. They will be using mainly QQAY and CQAY wagons.

QR aka Interail. The second Q means a container flat.

As long as they can keep pace with a real superfreighter bring the rent-a-wrecks on . Just for the record 80km/h running is the norm in Cactoria at the moment . Problems with the north east std gauge being pathetically inadequate , but then its never been any different . Given the chance even the rainbow warriers can bite the dust .
