Back whenever the railways first came to Canberra and Queanbeyan. What sort of Locomotives served the area around Canberra and down to Bomballa ? 1210 what class locomotive is that and how many of them where used about here?

Also how much traffic used to be around here, I noticed even the power grid at Queanbeyan even had a rail line to it, so with the kingston foreshore and all how busy did it used to be? and was the train to bomballa a once a week affair or everyday ?

If you can find a copy, get a hold of Railways of the Canberra and Monaro Districts by H J W Stokes (it will be fairly hard to find, but it is well worth the look). It will answer most of your questions. 1210 is a 12 class locomotive.
