I went on a trip to Royalla with the Arhs ( my first train trip in years ! ) and was thinking about joining and they where telling me how I could become a driver of 1210 after 10 years of training, not that I asked but I guess there has to be a few people to take on the trades of yesteryear for when the current "oldies" retire from there duties, yeah like that is going to happen, I think they enjoy there jobs too much.

It's not so much that we enjoy it to much (well, we do, but thats another story), it's just that not many seem interested enough to put in the hard work. Driving and firing steam locomotives is a very highly skilled job, and one that can only be learned over time. If anyone local is interested then don't hesitate to contact me, working on steam is hard work, but very rewarding.

What do you mean, it takes alot of effort to hold a 4 car tourist set while the engine runs around. Laughing
