Did anyone ride with 1210 today or chase the train from tarago to canberra? I got some nice pics i think and it was great to see 1210 steaming around. My timing was excellent as we saw the train go under the highway and then into the gorge. When then only just made it Queanbyan in time to see it come. I also found some admiration and respect for 4490. I never realised how good looking some diesels could be!

Cheers

I was going to but was busy until about 4pm. Since the schedule had changed so much I didn't bother trying to find it. But I did see the oil train.

I cant remember exactly but I think they where just pulling into Canberra a bit after 4.

Who owns that 44 locomotive anyway, its the first time I've seen one in real life and really liked its design?

IIRC it's part of the SRA Heritage fleet and under the care of RTM.

Yes I admit that engineering and mechanics are fun... even if your not an engineer or mechanic.

But I'm pretty sure there are atleast two fireman from arhs canberra division on these boards with the obvious one being fireman dave, oh well not to worry.

I went on a trip to Royalla with the Arhs ( my first train trip in years ! ) and was thinking about joining and they where telling me how I could become a driver of 1210 after 10 years of training, not that I asked but I guess there has to be a few people to take on the trades of yesteryear for when the current "oldies" retire from there duties, yeah like that is going to happen, I think they enjoy there jobs too much.

You've got to start somewhere, I started working (cleaning) on her at about 12. There's only one way to get experience. If you are interested contact me.
