First there is a model railway gallery ALBUM, read on.

I spent 2 days trying to figure it out (OTD is my excuse) and after a couple of PM's to David, and then much more fumbling around and this is how I eventually did it. Yes quite easy once one knows how. Wink
Here's what you do, hope I got it correct..

2 ways to do it, this is first way I did it.
**********************************
1. In "Main Menu" under "CONTENT" click "Image Gallery".
2. You can only put pictures in "Railpage Australia™ Shared Album" unless our got your own folder granted by Admin.
3. Now notice the scrolling names to the right under Sub-albums:
4. Your will see these in scrolling order:
    1. New South Wales with many sub folders.
    2. Victoria with many sub folders
    3. Queensland with many sub folders
    4. South Australia with many sub folders
    5. Western Australia with many sub folders.
    6. Tasmania with many sub folders.
    7. Northern Territory with many sub folders
    8. Model Railways with one sub folder.
    9. Miniature Railways.
    10. Miscellaneous.

5. Wait till the correct STATE appears, hold cursor on it and the scrolling will stop.
6. Select the correct sub folder which the picture category fits into. Example:- Picture of Railcar, click the "Railcar" sub folder.
7. Now you have a screen where you will see a drop down box to the right with on top bar showing: [[admin options]]
8. Click the down arrow and click on: Add photo.
9. A big box appears to fill in all about picture:-
    1. To upload: File [[BROWSE]]
    2. Caption.
    3. Description
    4. Location.
    5. Car(s) (example using railcars folder)
    6. Click: Upload.

10. Rest is self explanatory.

Also from here you can edit or delete your picture.

**********************************
2nd way I figured this way out later, probably easier.
Depends on yourself.

1. In "Main Menu" under "CONTENT" click "Image Gallery".
2. You can only put pictures in "Railpage Australia™ Shared Album" unless our got your own folder granted by Admin.
3. Click on the "Railpage Australia™ Shared ALBUM" picture.
4. Next screen is showing all the ALBUMS for each state etc.
    1. New South Wales
    2. Victoria
    3. Queensland
    4. South Australia
    5. Western Australia
    6. Tasmania
    7. Northern Territory
    8. Model Railways
    9. Miniature Railways.
    10. Miscellaneous.

5. For example, let's say we want to put a "Broad Gauge railcar" on the "South Australia ALBUM"
6. Click on picture for ALBUM: South Australia.
7. Now you will notice several more ALBUMS designated for different items.
8. Click on "RAILCARS".
9. Now you see another ALBUM page with ALBUM folders for more different items.
10. Click on picture "RED HENS" or the ALBUM you wish to put picture in. (NO HIGHLIGHT means, no picture as yet)
11. Now your in the correct ALBUM folder to upload your picture.
12. You have a screen now where you will see a "drop down box" to the right with on top bar showing: [[admin options]]
13. Click the down arrow and click on: "Add photo".
14. A big box appears to fill in all about picture:-
    1. To upload: File [[BROWSE]]
    2. Caption.
    3. Description
    4. Location.
    5. Car(s) (example using railcars folder)
    6. Click: Upload.

15. Rest is self explanatory.

Also from here you can edit or delete your picture.

**********************************

Well hope this helps you and any others who are old or young dum clucks like me. Wink

An important bit of information about a photograph is when it was taken. To encourage people to record this information, could another field be added for this? I suggest a text field so that dates such as "May 1993", "early 1960s", etc. can be accepted as well as complete dates such as "23-4-2001".

Is good point, but probably quite a bit of messing around for someone to do this.
I put my dates in with the "Caption" box line with caption. By doing it that way one gets to see date of picture when first viewing the small thumbnail, before opening the main picture to view.

Have a look in South Australian Railcars and Steam and see what I mean.

I will use some of this information to create/update the FAQ.

I have quite a few PM's about adding pics to the rp2 gallery.

It shouldn't be too hard to add another input field, but if adding another field to the database is too difficult, a compromise may be to have a separate date field to fill in, but to then append (or prepend?) that to the caption text.

You can of course put the date in the caption as you have done, but my point was to encourage everyone to supply a date by having a separate field to fill in.

Actually, it's easily done - because there's the ability to add in any fields desired via the admin panel. David, perhaps you could do this for us?
