Dave, this is significent. However, the offer to sell probably included a clause which says we can consider bids after the due date, at the descretion of RA.

It is interesting. How did PN know to bid an extra $5m??

Regards,
Brian

Thats a good point, there could be a leak in FA, why not, they are everywhere else. $285M is not realy alot for what you get. Lets pass the hat around and put in a bigger late bid, I've got 20 cents.

I smell a rat !

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, noooooooooooooooo! I can't think of a worse name for a company.

My Mum & I have been thinking of late, Don Gibsion sold has 50% stake in trans senic to who? What that I hear, oh did you say Toll holdings? Yes that's right dear fellow.

So with Toll now in control of ever thing in NZ, and Toll being part of PN, PN already have experience in the Passenger trains area by the Hook & Pull contract for GSR.

So what do you think will happen in 2006 if say PacNat is the owner of FA?
(A hint a passenger provider comes up for reprivatisation again if all goes to Plan)

Are there any Alarm Bells ringing "yet"?

Another Hint, they willl have there own loco's plus FA's why not add some more "Victorian Loco's simular to ther FA fleet to there list of PN owned items? The minister is said to have down a deal or prefer to hand the whole system over to Connex, "but", is Connex any where near as big as PacNat?

There is nothing on the site today, that last time the site was updated was about a week ago and involved chicken growers in Victoria.

There might be more to consider than we know about, such as the next in line to buy FA. The ACCC go and look at everything the primary bidder has something to do with. In this case, PN, they would have to look at every thing to do with Patrick's, Toll and any one else that has a finger in the pie. Then they will do the same with the second placed bidder, if there is one. With some takeovers they look as deep as the 4th or 5th bidders to make the right decision. When they decide on if PN can buy FA or not they need to provide proof as to why their choice was made the way it was and IF the primary bidder is blocked from the purchase the ACCC will have to check that it is ok for the next in line to make the purchase.
