I've been trying to texture wheels in 3D Canvas now for ages and I can't do it!
Can anybody tell me how to make the masks, etc. properly?
When i do it, i still have the square of the wheels visible. Any feedback will be appreciated.

You either use a single TGA file or two BMP files
With the TGA, make sure you mask off the areas that are not transparent.
With two BMPs, create the black and white mask with which indicating solid and black transparent.
Make sure your texture settings are similar to:
Diffuse 75 Specular 1
Ambient 20 Translucency 0
Select the paint filling tool, switch to "edit using object coordinates" and paint the wheels.
If that doesn't work, send me the TGA file you are using.

I'm completely lost.
I really do suck at this, but i'm sure if I do it succesfully once, It'll be OK.
Decapod, I'll email the TGA with the wheels in it.
