Will be travelling on the RTT soon. Assume cars are designated alphabetically from the front. How are the seats numbered - e.g seat 12?

How do you mean designated alphabetically from the front? Do you mean like people are situated according to their surnames? I am quite sure that is not the case. The cars are booked out from the centre to the front and then to the back (I think). Seats are numbered with the higher number at the front end of the carriage and seat number one at the rear of the carriage.

I mean the car numbers A, B, C and so on are numbered from the front of the set? I'm in car E on one trip and car C on the return.

I'm in seat 12 both times, so just interested in the car seat numbering plan.

cheers

Yes they are numbered from the front of the set. A at the beginning (business) to F at the end. Seat 12 would be situated towards the ends of the carriages. In car C the numbering starts from 66 at the front and 1 at the end. In car E I think the seating starts from 33 at the front to 1 at the end.

Hope this helps,

Justin

PS What day are you travelling up?

Thanks. The last time I travelled on this route was the Bundy mail (loco hauled wooden carriages) in 1974. Departed 9am from the back platform and arrived at Roma St 6pm. Return trip was on a 2000 railcar and quicker by a whole 1/2hour. Times have changed.

Next Tues from Bris returning the following Sat
