I may have put a similar message to this up, before the board went "down" for a while, so I am repeating it.
I rode the first run of the "Pioneer" from Salt Lake City to Portland, in June 1977.
On a related topic, I will be riding the last run of the Spirit of Capricorn from Brisbane to Maryborough West, on Saturday the 24th of May.
Then, I wil travel from Maryborough to Bundaberg on the "Sunlander'. The following morning, I am booked onto the tilt train to Brisbane.
It should be a nice weekend.
As my post that was cut and pasted from aus.rail to here, regaring "rare" train trips, caused a lot of comments, I hope that there will be some "First Run" OR "Last Run" train travel stories, waiting to be told!

How about a cruise around Camberwell depot in 946 before it re-entered service, with all sorts of gear showing? Not me, my brother who's watching over my shoulder.
Happy Gunzelling and remember, "Go by rail!"
