That's the one nosecone, and thank you for adding to my knowledge Very Happy In my iggerance, I would have accepted Tallong as an answer.

When driving under that bridge, I was only half inclined to take pix - until I saw the old piers of the previous bridge, which was probably a Whitton bridge, and I would venture to say, of a similar age to the Menangle bridge (which is also a Whitton bridge).

Here's one of the more complete old piers next to a car containing a just barely patient wurxette Neutral

And this is looking in the opposite direction, toward Marulan, showing a less complete pier. The road in the background is the Highland Way.

A closeup of that pier (this is the shot that I cropped).

And for a contemporary reference, this is the Main South, looking toward Tallong, just near the current bridge.

Well, it's pretty sad when you find yourself being able to identify a solitary piece of stonework, miles from Sydney.

The old bridge was younger than the one at Menangle (built 1863). The Barber's Creek one was built in 1868, using a similar (but smaller and single-track) design of five, 60-foot long, 2-plate web girders, each 4.5 feet deep, through which the track was laid. These needed strengthening in 1892-93 and the entire structure was replaced with today's duplicated brick-arched bridge in 1915. Tallong (so-named in 1905) was originally opened as Barber's Creek Tank in 1869.

Having said all of that, I have nothing to post in return! Open floor ... NEXT!

One day I'll be able to have a go at these Crying or Very sad

But it looks very "narrow gauge" and it certainly doesn't look like anything here in the West. So I'd say it is southern Queensland

Maybe the old border crossing of Wallangara Question

I think crisfitz might be right about the narrow gauge and it being north of the border. But where - no idea

The last three posts have been a good logical progression Smile

duttonbay is quite close but it is not on the Kingaroy Branch.

Time for a clue?

It's a little known branch (I'd not heard of it until I reached this town and saw it on the road map) inland of Goomeri.

Without loooking at a map, what about Jandowae? This was my first thought, but was rejected because the scenery didn't quite look right to my eye.
