Hi Kevin,
First, maybe better to post this in the MSTS Forum. Someone may be able to help you there, well at least get started, or point you in the right direction.
Myself, I know nothing as to making routes, so no idea where one would even start. Have far too many other things to keep up with in MSTS now, that is when I can find time to use it.
That is some undertaking your thinking of doing, it would be huge Perth to Sydney via Adelaide - Melbourne. Personally speaking here you would be better to start , seeing your from Adelaide, to start Adelaide - Broken hill, or Adelaide - Melbourne, these in themselves would be an big undertaking with a lot of dedication needed.

Thanks to all persons who have replied to my questions. Yes, it will be a huge task to undertake in building this australian line, I am intending to begin this task very soon, as I am still gathering information about certain topics and the scenery along the major routes from Perth to Melbourne, I believe though once it is completed I"d doubt if one will make it for download as it will take a very long time to do so, hopefully it will be on a c.d.
So far I have had many people offering their help, I thank you for that, the only problem I have is keeping up with you all, now that I have moved from Adelaide to Berri, it will be difficult for me and you to keep in touch, but I am open for for suggestions and e-mails concering the big project I am willing to undertake shortly. Please don't be afraid to e-mail me from time to time and I am sure I can keep you up to date
