A great place to view freight and passenger services.
Sydney Terminal has long since been the departure point for many Intercity, Regional and Interstate services, from the NSWGR to todays modern passenger trains. Sydney Terminal is also visited weekly by The Indian Pacific, as well as frequent heritage tours operated around the state. It is quite handy for photography both day and night, especially when locomotive hauled trains are using the runaround road located between platforms one and two.
On 30 May 1915 Lavender Bay railway station was opened to take the place of Milsons Point railway station. This only lasted for seven weeks, as passengers refused to alight here and demanded that trains stop at Milsons Point. During the harbour bridge construction, Lavender Bay Station was the terminus for the North Shore Line. The area is now railway storage sidings.
