Sparking up Down South. . . .
Some photos of new overhead around Lonsdale. Definitely looking like an electric railway now.
1) Looking south from Lonsdale station towards Dyson Road bridge.
2) Lonsdale station looking south
3) Lonsdale station.
Overall steel roof of the station footbridge has just been completely renewed.
Metal frames are in place pending installation of protective steel mesh on section of footbridge directly above live catenary. Hopefully will be done before they throw the big switch on Monday!
4) Looking north from Lonsdale station towards Port Stanvac
5) Port Stanvac (south)
Looking south from Sherriffs Road footbridge at southern entrance to Port Stanvac depot.
Crossover road is not yet wired, although components are lying on ground nearby.
Concrete masts are installed inside Port Stanvac yard, but no insulators, cantilevers or wiring inside sidings yet.
The 2x 3000 railcars disappeared several weeks ago, presumably to Seaford Meadows. These had had several severe grafitti attacks during their extended stay at Port Stanvac.
6) Port Stanvac (south)
Elaborate, artistic, custom-made safety screens installed on the Sherriffs Road footbridge.
The metal fabrication guys have been on site most days for literally 4 weeks installing this and the one on other side of bridge.
Must have cost the government a fortune to decorate a bridge from nowhere to nowhere which hardly anyone uses since Mitsubishi and the Mobil refinery closed.
Lucky there are not too many overbridges on Noarlunga line, and hope they're faster putting up the others.
