Xtraps are not cleared to run in service on those lines.
Signals and driver's platform-vision mirrors / monitors require shifting to take account of the Xtrap central driving position. They are currently all set for the more normal left-hand driving position found on all other trains.
A compromise position has to be established, agreed, the alterations signed off on, funded and put in place before those trains can run in service. Currently they may only run out of service on test runs under special conditions.
The whole process is steadily taking place but it won't happen overnight.
Xtraps are not currently stabled at Craigieburn. They are berthed at North Melbourne, Epping and Bayswater with some in sidings at other locations on the Burnley and Clifton Hill service groups including Upper Ferntree Gully, Ringwood, Burnley, Eltham and Clifton Hill.
