We finally have a winner!

These photos were taken from the north side of Burnley station around the mid-late 1920s - the ironwork in the foreground presumably being for the viaducts on the Albion - Broadmeadows line, as the captions only mention their construction (State Library of Victoria photo).

On the left, at the corner of Stawell Street and Madden Grove stands State School 2853.  Unfortunately this fine example of gothic revival architecture is long gone.  On the right can be seen part of the former platform connecting pedestrian footbridge.

The rooftops in the background belong to the row of Victorian terraces along Madden Grove that stand to this day.  Besides these rooftops, the only other structures in this view remaining today are the two overhead stanchions and the top of the station hut on the up platform (two pinnacles and chimney).
