$27 Million was what was quoted as the cost of converting from Double to Single line.
Gossip was it cost more but I never heard any amount ever quoted if it did.
The previous UP main line was chosen to be the new Main line with the Down Main to be removed.
However at both Rydal and Tarana, the DOWN platforms are used for passenger usage.
The new Main Line has been 'moved' in several places within the confines of the double line road bed to suit a better lie.
This also would have covered the works needed from the west end of Wallerawang platform to join the Up and Down together and the main to Branch junction at Wallerawang West.
Cabling, new points, motors, signals etc and the new relay/control building.
Tarana would have required a new set of motorised points where the UP and down join, motors on the UP refuge and new signals, relay/control building.
I was remiss and didnt state $21.8 Million has been allocated to do BOTH crossings and as no amount per Crossing Loop was given, I just divided that by 2 to get $10 Million I quoted in the heading.
