I think we've previously been pretty thoroughly through the idea of a snap election. By now, it is virtually impossible due to the NSW election, due on March 23,  being in the way. Any attempt to stick a Federal poll in somewhere quickly would give the Electoral Commission a huge attack of the wobbling abdabs.
The other factor against an early Federal poll is the massive licking that the Coalition copped in Victoria. The Feds will want that horrible example to recede into the distance as far as possible before they have to step up to the plate to cop their whack.
