As neither of these traction options will be used for freight outside Qld CQ coal for the foreseeable future, should the M-D line again see the light of day there is no technical or safety reason why diesel traction cannot and will not be used, as was proposed during the project review study under Howard.The double deck trains can handle the gradient. It is freight which would dictate the gradient. Diesel freight trains via Maldon to Dombarton isn't going to happen regardless of what options are available for such to occur.Correction
