IN early 1993, Australian National's 'World' ALCo no.961 was painted in a new livery to haul the ill-fated 'Explorer' broad gauge tourist train venture. The 'Explorer' service last just over a year, but 961, currently stored, retains the livery to this day. On 22 October 1998 it was seen shunting grain hoppers at the Port Adelaide export terminal. By the time of this view , ownership had transferred to Australia Southern Railroad and the loco had been transferred to standard gauge.
