Two surplus 1502 Class were reallocated to Australian Railroad Group following the QRNational takeover of Western Australian operations in 2006. Originally these two were rebuilt and classified as the AC Class, although this was later changed to AD Class to permit the "AC" prefix to be used for the 2009 purchase of Cv43aci locomotives from UGL Rail.
