Bombardier will supply seven Talent3 EMUs to Südtiroler Transportstrukturen (STA). With the 3-system trains, it will be possible to introduce direct train services between Innsbruck, Bolzano and Mals.
Bombardier’s offer in this public tender was valued at exactly 64,165,717 euro. For this amount seven Talent3 EMus will be delivered that can run under 15kV AC, 25kV AC and 3kV DC. As such, the trains can be used in Austria, Italy, through the BBT (Brenner-Basis-Tunnel) and the Vinschger, which is currently being reconstructed and electrified with 25kV AC.
STA is working on a new time table for its network in South Tyrol that will come into effect in December 2021:
