As a next step, Bombardier will apply for the Authorization to Put In Service (APIS) per conformity which makes it possible to put the locomotive series into operation, enabling Bombardier’s customers and operators to register and begin operating their TRAXX DC3 locomotive fleets. Commercial service is planned to begin in March 2019.
Railcolor: The first TRAXX DC3’s were released from work in 2018. First one was the designated 494 040 in February (title picture), followed by the 494 505 with Last Mile module one month later. Mercitalia, Captrain Italia, GTS Rail, LocoItalia and Akiem have placed orders for TRAXX DC3s electrics.
