Alstom has unveiled the first Régiolis unit to operate as the Léman Express regional train for the trans-border Cornavin to Eaux-Vives to Annemasse (CEVA) line between Switzerland and France.
The train, which belongs to Alstom’s Coradia Polyvalent range, was unveiled at the rolling stock manufacturer’s Reichshoffen site in France.
Overall, Alstom will deliver 17 Régiolis trains under an earlier order from SNCF and financed by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
The deliveries of the trains are expected to begin later this year, with commercial service scheduled to start from mid-December.
Alstom France senior vice-president Jean-Baptiste Eyméoud said: “Alstom is particularly proud to present this Coradia Polyvalent train, the first trans-border train from its range.

Overall, Alstom has delivered 312 Coradia range of trains to nine French regions. The trains to be delivered for the CEVA line have been configured in their suburban version.
Each 72m-long train is equipped with 204 seats and capable of running at a speed of up to 140km/h.
Designed for cross-border links, the trains can operate on multiple types of network voltages.
Additionally, the Coradia Polyvalent Léman Express trains feature low floors and seven doors to ensure smooth passenger flows, as well as to reduce station stoppage times.
They also comply with the PRM-TSI standard, technical specifications for interoperability concerning passengers with reduced mobility.
All seats inside the trains are fitted with individual reading lights and electrical sockets. They also have dedicated bicycle and luggage areas.
