The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started work on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s dream project Patna Metro Rail project. For the first time on the day of Sri Krishna Janmashtami on Friday, the work of this project has been started from drone survey work.
The team of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started drone survey work of the alignment of both the corridors of the Patna metro. Significantly, the land will be marked for the metro route only on the basis of drone survey.
DMRC appointed as Consultant
In the board meeting of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL), it has been decided to give the construction work of both the corridors of the metro to DMRC. It has been sent to the cabinet for approval. DMRC has to complete the work in five years, so from today, it is going to start a drone survey of both corridors. This work is to be completed between 23 August and 15 October 2019.
Approval received from PAC
The State Public Account Committee (PAC) has approved PMRC’s decision to construct the Patna Metro rail project through DMRC. After approval by the committee headed by the Development Commissioner, now only the cabinet approval has to be taken on this proposal.
According to sources from the city development department, the PMRC’s decision is likely to be approved in the next cabinet meeting. The government plans to start operating metro rail in Patna by 2024. At the meeting of Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) on August 7, it was decided to give the responsibility of construction to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Physical Survey Work Started
Patna Metro Rail Corporation has started physical survey of both corridors of Patna Metro. The PMRC team surveyed the route from Danapur to Etbarpur and Patna Junction to ISBT. The status of the two corridors is being studied by a team of officers under the leadership of Patna Metro Rail Corporation general manager Vijayashil Kashyap.
The team inquired about the availability of land at Etabarpur and ISBT. Construction of depot for Patna Metro is proposed at both these places. The PMRC team will conduct an aerial survey after the physical survey.
The physical survey and aerial survey report will be submitted to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
