Eastern Seaboard Models (ESM) is known for its fine quality N-scale line of offerings available for several decades. ESM’s first HO release is in development. The company will reproduce Magor/Pacific Car & Foundry’s (PC&F) XIH boxcar. The finely detailed and assembled HO-scale model will feature more than 100 detail parts, including separate side vents, tack boards, ladders with etched-metal running boards on the roof and brake platform on the B-end of the car. The model’s underbody detail with accurate present the prototype’s plywood sheeting surface, heating pipes, and Luminator-Mitchel #14 charcoal heater. Two different productions of the prototype will be reproduced in HO: Magor 1950 and PC&F 1953 XIH boxcars. This means unique roof designs for each car builder’s prototype.
ESM states its coming model will ride on accurate ASF A-3 50-ton truck sideframes with InterMountain Railway-made 33-inch metal wheels. Equipped with Kadee #148 whisker-style knuckle couplers, and Hi-Tech Details rubber air hoses. The tooling process is underway now with delivery of the first collection of Eastern Seaboard Models Magor/PC&F XIH boxcars planned for 2022. The first releases are planned to present Bangor & Aroostook and New Haven in as-built appearance with multiple road numbers.
The computer drawings presented show the PC&F configuration of the coming XIH boxcar from Eastern Seaboard Models. Arriving later this year, ESM plans to release its first kits for N-scale rolling stock. The “Made In America” series will include craftsman-level kits including at trio of gondolas and a caboose.
