The sounds, the smell and the feeling of being part of a living, fire breathing machine is one you will never forget!

Through the railways quieter spring and autumn months, Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway will be offering the chance to take part in their Steam Footplate Experiences.

Those taking part will be guided on how to drive an engine and even given a chance to have a go themselves whilst running over their full line and also pulling a complete train.

A Steam Footplate Experience includes:

• an introductory booklet
• safety and technical session (classroom)
• a guided tour of the engine
• a 9-mile trip firing the engine.
• a 9-mile trip driving the engine
• a year’s free membership
