Greater Jakarta train operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (PT KCI) has apologized for the halted operation of the commuter line on the Duri–Tangerang route on Friday morning following a fire that broke out in a slum area near the railway track in West Jakarta.
“PT KCI apologizes for the disruption on the Duri-Tangerang route as a result of a fire that started at 10:20 a.m. in a residential area near Taman Kota Station,” KCI spokesperson Eva Chairunisa said in a press statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Friday.
Taman Kota Station is the third station on the route after Duri Station.
As a result, the commuter line operations on that route were halted until further notice.
The authorities are currently trying to put out the fire.
“PT KCI recommends that passengers who cannot wait use other modes of transportation. Passengers who have bought a ticket and cancel their trip can apply for a refund at the ticket counter in the nearest station,” Eva added. (sau)
