As many as 400 workers could lose their jobs when the State Government closes the rural rail reservations office at Central Station and at least 30 CountryLink travel centres in Sydney and across the state.
The main Sydney reservations centre would be replaced by smaller offices in regional cities as bookings become more internet-based.
In a meeting with RailCorp chief executive Vince Graham on Wednesday, the Rail, Tram and Bus Union was told CountryLink, in a joint venture with Queensland Rail, wanted to increase the number of internet-based bookings and payments.
