The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) invited bids from the eligible rolling stock manufacture firms for design and supply of 201 Rolling stock coaches for the Kanpur Metro Rail project.

Project Details
Kanpur Metro Rail Project is a mass rapid transit system which is under construction for the city of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, and extendable to the Kanpur Metropolitan Area. The feasibility study for the Kanpur Metro rail project was done by Railway consultancy firm RITES Limited in June 2015.
Tender for construction of viaduct and 9 stations on first priority corridor between IIT to Motijheel already floated. The contract has been awarded to Indian infrastructure firm Afcons Infrastructure Limited to construct the elevated viaduct between IIT to Motijheel and metro car shed at Government Polytechnic.
On November 15, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had laid the foundation stone of construction of Rs. 11,076.48 crore Kanpur Metro rail project near IIT Kanpur.
Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) is entrusted to execute the Kanpur Metro rail project.
