Trains will return to the Echuca line this week after the completion of a $4.9 million program to improve detection at all active level crossings between Echuca and Bendigo.
The first train to travel to Echuca will be the 15:14 service from Southern Cross Station on Friday 19 May.
Test trains and track machinery will be operating on the Echuca line before services return.
The safety upgrades will mean that trains on the Echuca line will be detected at level crossings in time.
With trains resuming along the corridor after a number of weeks, motorists and pedestrians are reminded to be safe in and around level crossings.
Trains can come from either direction at any time so always obey the warning signals at level crossings and take care around trains.
